Deep-sea rowing
Linking the two continents by force of arms alone, non-stop solo, without stopovers and without assistance, is an extraordinary challenge that pushes the human qualities of mental strength.
In 1980, Gérard D'Aboville was the first person to row across the the Atlantic in a rowing boat. Then, in January 2000, Peggy Boucher was the first woman to achieve this feat.
The route links the Canary Islands to Guadeloupe
(departure in winter 2022-2023), then New York (departure in summer 2024) in the summer of 2024) to the port of Ouistreham in Normandy.
It will be carried out on an unsinkable one-design boat of 8 m long one-design boat called Athanor.
It's a journey of almost 11,000 km, with 10 to 15 hours of rowing every day for about 180 days.
